OVERALL OBJECTIVES OF INTERFAITH DIALOGUE SERIES

1. To learn about one another's core beliefs of faith, culture, traditions and community life

2. To ask questions in dialogue that lead to greater understanding

3. To create friendships and build relationships across religious and cultural devides

4. To decrease suspicion and fear of one another

5. To be part of a process that eliminates acts of discrimination and hate against recent immigrants and persons of color

6. To contribute toward building greater respect and opportunity for people in the St Cloud area

To promote true friendship and understanding among diverse people who live in our area by focusing on a Baha'i religious document about world peace.

Program Description

1. Music & Songs of Peace Theme
Classical piano overture - "Promise of World Peace" (30 minutes);
Peace Songs (15 minutes);
Violin Recital (10 minutes)

2. Panel on "The Promise of World Peace" Document
Two Baha'i representatives speak for 10 minutes each, followed by 3 to 5 minute responses each from panelists of diverse religions; open house discussion will then take place, followed by closing comments by the two Baha'i representatives

3. Intercultural Dinner (60 minutes)
Soups & Breads from around the world.
These varieties of simple-fare foods from Native American, African American, Asian American, Euro American, and Latin American cultures all demonstrate the oneness of the human family and our unity in diversity.
Dessert: Tea and Baklava bring us back to the Middle East and the origins of Baha'i
