OVERALL OBJECTIVES OF INTERFAITH DIALOGUE SERIES

1. To learn about one another's core beliefs of faith, culture, traditions and community life

2. To ask questions in dialogue that lead to greater understanding

3. To create friendships and build relationships across religious and cultural devides

4. To decrease suspicion and fear of one another

5. To be part of a process that eliminates acts of discrimination and hate against recent immigrants and persons of color

6. To contribute toward building greater respect and opportunity for people in the St Cloud area

SCHEDULE

PURPOSE
To help heal local religious and cultural misunderstandings and to promote true friendship and understanding among diverse people who live in our area. We are focusing on Muslim and Christian unity with a special focus on reaching out to the St. Cloud Somali community.

Program Description

  • 1. Malcolm Nazareth, Ph.D., does a powerpoint presentation: "The ABC's of Islam: 25 Frequently Asked Questions." (90 minutes)

  • 2. Dr. Nazareth and a panel Muslim men and women of diverse ethnicity answer questions and dialogue with the audience. (75 minutes)

  • Introductory Words by UNIITE's Executive Director - 3 minutes Dr. Malcolm Nazareth

  • 3. Potluck dinner. (75 minutes)

  • 4. Dances of the Universal Peace conducted by nationally known Dance Leader, Hakiim Bushnell. No prior experience is necessary to participate. Dances are drawn from the Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jewish, Islamic, Christian, Native, and Goddess traditions. (120 minutes)
