Park in the north parking lot (the main visitor parking lot on the north end of the hospital). Enter Entrance E and follow the main corridor to Lobby D and the D Elevator. Take the D Elevator down one level to Level A. Turn left out of the elevator bay and Hoppe Auditorium is directly in front of you.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

H. Giovanni Antunez, M.D., Dr. Ph.

Professor of Health at the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sport Science,
College of Education, SCSU

Taught courses and conducted workshops to medical students and health care providers on Latino/a Health,
Cultural Sensitivity, and Traditional Healing at Tulane University School of Medicine from 2000-2005

Since fall 2005, teaching several subjects at SCSU, including “International Health” and “Principles of Nutrition”;
will teach “Consumer Health” in fall 2006

A Honduran who is has special expertise on Mexican indigenous healing practices, for example, he and his wife Leyda are serving the St. Cloud Branch of the NAACP, she as a branch officer, he as a committee chair. The Antunez's have two sons. The family is new to Central Minnesota, yet already fully engaged in St. Cloud's strivings for systemic change.

 

Dr. Jesus H. Lopez Moreno, M.D.

Dr. Lopez was born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico. He was trained in medicine in Durango, Mexico. He practiced several years as a rural doctor before emigrating to the United States in 2002. Currently he is studying to take his medical Board exams for licensure in Minnesota. He has also been working for two years in and around St. Cloud as an interpreter helping Latino/a people communicate with their medical providers.

 

Alejandro Lopez

Mr. Lopez was born in Minnesota and raised in Texas as a son of migrant farm workers. He has lived with his wife Irma in St. Cloud since 1999. They have a daughter. He has played guitar in Mariachi bands for more than 15 years in Texas. He has performed in several cultural events in St. Cloud. He plays and sings in the bilingual choir of St. Joseph’s Parish, Waite Park, MN.
